I had to put the creative project on hold due to “work difficulties”. I’d read my personal blog to discover the unique relationship I’ve been having with local call centre employment.

Things are looking good though. I’ve been granted a two week

extension – which is more than enough. I’ve got my script finished and it is entitled “Hindsight”. If anybody wants to read it, please feel free to email me and I can send you a copy. I don’t want to put it online as I want to keep track of who is reading it.

Cast-wise, I have chosen Steven McEwan – who has appeared on “Night is Day” and Keira McMillian. Rehersals start this Sunday which shall be quite exciting.

I’ve just finished my storyboards. If you could call them that! Ugly stick figures with sausage fingers. And to think I did art at Ayr College when I was 16! I will be mailing them to my crew this evening, my parents scanner is gubbed – but mine works – and I think the wifi is back working at my flat again.

I have my friend Kerry MacManhon providing make up skills.

It is starting to begin to come together. We’ll see what happens when filming gets underway. It is going to be tight but my production folder is starting to fill up with bits and pieces. I got some research material on domestic abuse from Kriss who works at the RMHA.

At some point I need to write an essay on Modernism. Forth year is beginning to draw to a close. Until next week, where I am going to attempt to update regularly – now their is more activity on the film making front!

It has been a productive week in terms of forming anything decent for this production. I started the week by creating a work schedule for the next two weeks and meeting with Tony Grace about getting a 3rd Year crew. Luckily; the guys from M for Movies agreed to help me by filming the thing for me. Yey, I think, because I am grade A shite at technical stuff. Justification for this? Too busy writing my dissertation to learn how to do it and I would rather trust a boy with a camera than to pretend I knew what I was doing. In the past; I pretend I know what I’m doing and a microphone somehow -randomly – gets into the frame. I don’t know how the hell that happens because I am truely excellent and it is never my fault, ever.

See my point?

So – I enlisted a production assistant by the name of Ceylan. A friend of my sister; who isn’t doing very much at the moment and agreed to help. I’ve always wanted to employ somebody to follow me around with a black notebook transcribing my inner monologe. Ceylan fits nicely. she will come in handy during the actual filming dates. Mainly for my black coffee and taking pictures of the hot actor I am going to hire. I jest.

I had a meeting with Jason Robertson today. He suggests I rewrite my script. So I am going to re-write my script. When I have re-written my script (time-lined it for next friday); I will need to draw a storyboard (jesus-f-ing-christ) and plan a shot list to give to my boys by the following Friday. I aim to start filming this bad boy on the week commencing the 12th of March.

Originally I was going to have it filmed in Glasgow; however, it looks to me it might be easier to do it in Ayr. Oh marvellous. Jason suggested that I paint my flat a disgusting colour to symbolise rot and decay for my main scenes; however I live in a shiny, spangly new build yuppie condo with a large balcony and a shrine to Simon le Bon in my living room. I don’t want to make it look like a domestic hell-hole. Apparently scarifices must be made for the sake of art. We’ll see.

So; apart from that, that is everything from the realms of genericstudentfilms aka my brainhole. Until next Friday where I will invite you taste the flavour of my new script and to master at the skillz I developed as a young, budding graphic design student at Ayr College back in 2001. That is the longer version of saying that I am going to scan in a copy of my stick men storyboard.

This blog’s purpose is to create a home for my final year student production company and to mark the progress of the first short film to evolve from the process.

My name is Jennifer Jones. I am 22 and a final year student at Paisley University studying media. My background of study is generally more focussed on writing and journalism; with a desire to gain a role working on online projects rather than independant film making. However, I have a creative project that must be done and I wish to do it properly.

At the moment, the current state of play in regards to my creative project is that I have a script and the scent of a student film crew. What I intend to do with this blog is to use it as a vital source of networking to help me complete my project successfully. I wish to update it frequently as and when required.

The name of the company orginates from my complete overuse of a good scrabble word. I love the word “generic”. I will have babies with the word “generic”. “Generic” is the greatest insult to those who try hard and be “different”. So I decided to adopt it as my own as I feast on a bowl of well-place irony and roffle at the fact that I don’t consider myself much of a film maker and don’t try and be anything other than somebody who wants to get a good mark for their honour year – and maybe perhaps something decent to show prospective employers. I’m not trying to glam it up to anything other than just another media student, doing just another student film – but I feel brutal honesty tends to help me in these circumstances.

Look forward to my next update where I shall amuse your arses off with a treatment of the script and the tales of my attempt to get actors and crews to work for free.
